Consultation has concluded

The District of Elkford is updating its Development Cost Charges (DCCs) bylaw. Development Cost Charges (DCCs) are funds collected from developers that contribute to the costs of infrastructure required to service new growth in the community.

DCCs are an important tool for local governments to sustainably facilitate and finance development in their community, without compromising the delivery of services to their residents. DCCs are regulated through the Local Government Act, and the rates charged reflect the impact growth has on infrastructure and parks (i.e., the greater the impact, the larger the charge). This helps to ensure that developers pay their fair share of the costs required to develop new infrastructure.

The District of Elkford currently collects DCCs, through the Specified Area Cost Charges Bylaw, 1980 No. 140, to help fund water, sewer, roads and drainage infrastructure for the benefit of future growth in the community.

We are updating this bylaw to modernize the rates and to make sure that future development pays its fair share for the infrastructure required to service it.
