The District of Elkford is updating our Official Community Plan (OCP), which serves as our community’s roadmap for the next 20 years. Refreshing the OCP will play an important role in guiding our community’s growth and creating policies that ensure Elkford continues to be a welcoming, active and vibrant place to call home.

This page will be used to collect community input on the project through surveys and other tools.

Group Workbooks Available Now! - July 22, 2024

The project team has developed a virtual workbook to guide community members in facilitated conversations about the draft OCP that was released on July 15. The workbook leads you through questions about the proposed policy directions in the draft OCP. Groups are invited to submit their workbooks collectively, with each group submitting one workbook.

The workbook is available here. Community members are invited to host a discussion on the draft OCP with your friends or family and complete the workbooks as a group. Every host who facilitates a conversation with at least five participants and submits their workbook is eligible for $25 for your hosting efforts. You must submit the workbook with at least 5 participant responses to receive the rebate. Hosts must provide their full name when submitting the workbook and making a payment request, so we can verify that the completed workbook was received. Note: only the first 50 hosts who submit workbooks are eligible for the payment.

You are more than welcome to complete workbooks without the minimum of 5 participants, however you won't be eligible for the payment.

Start your Workbook Here.

Instructions for Hosts:

  • Gather a group of up to 10 people (friends, neighbours and other residents) who are interested in reviewing the proposed policy directions.
  • You will be reviewing and providing input on 10 proposed policy directions. This session will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete, depending on the number of participants.
  • You will be reviewing the policy directions as a group. We recommend printing out copies of the policy directions prior to the session so participants can review them at their own pace. Click here to access the printout.
  • Bring a laptop with you to complete the workbook.
  • Facilitate the session using the instructions included in the virtual workbook.

Best Practices for Hosting:

Preparation:

  • Review the workbook thoroughly before the session to familiarize yourself with the instructions and content.
  • Ensure you have a comfortable and quiet space for the session.
  • Print out copies of the proposed policy directions for each participant.

Facilitation:

  • Start the session with a brief introduction, explaining the purpose of the discussion and the importance of each participant’s feedback.
  • Encourage open and respectful communication. Ensure everyone has an opportunity to speak and share their views.

If you have any questions about the workbook or hosting a session, please contact ocp@elkford.ca
